Individual Solutions. How to be your own best self. How to make your life work for you.
So much of our lives is not our choice. We are born into a certain family, at a given time and place. The adults in charge of our early years shape so much about us. The society we live in, and the language we speak, teaches us who we are in this world. And yet, we have choices. In little and bold ways we can make our own decisions. We live with the consequences of those decisions; those we love, and those we regret. We learn. We grow. We share.
My goal is for this to be a place where we can share our knowledge about those solutions that worked for specific challenges. I am a mental health therapist who specializes in working with children and adolescents. I have helped many families seek creative solutions that work for them. I am also a parent to two adult children: one by birth, one by adoption. I am the grandmother of six wonderful (and super busy) kids. My personal and professional life have taught me a lot about ADHD, adoption, anxiety, difficult relationships, LGBTQ issues, parenting, trauma, delight, regret, and joy.
To quote one of my favorite people (my mom): “If you aren’t happy with the life you have, change it.” I am actually pretty happy with my current life but feel it could be better. This blog is a step in that direction. Looking forward to sharing and learning.
